THE BALTBURG DISPATCH

Issue 6, Xar 7th  469

“All the Hacks that are fit to print”

HERESY!

Dateline, Baltburg,  Yeb the 30th

By Horatio Falkenstein, bard

Goodfolk of Baltburg, friends I have been deceived.  Unknown to me, the so-called innocent elves of the Old Wood were heretical Druids!  Woe and shame!  I join with the Bishop and Abbot Marco in urging all diligence in the uprooting of these mockeries of Bor.

Banditry

Dateline, Baltburg,  Xar the 6th

By Verdo Flavian, guild master of merchants

It appears that all overland contact with the Barony of Elfwind has been cut off.  No trappers or traders seem to be able to safely cross the Dry Hills or Dead Forest.  Thus it is the decree of the guild that all traffic with the elves should proceed by river boat to Duke’s Haven and overland from there.

News in brief

Stinktown:  Two items of note:  an elfish heretic named Yaramak was arrested within the confines of Stinktown by agents of the bishop.  Also, local vat-monkey Melvin has made it to the big time.  Known for his skill at licking dust from the mantel of the Stanky Arms, Melvin is now first deputy lackey and bootlick to Rannos of Blacksword!  Good luck to Melvin.

Castle Eagle: The Count announces a tournament at Castle Eagle for Wap the 2nd, following the Equinox celebration and Processional of the Majesty of Bor on the first.

News from afar

Dwarf Kingdom:  the Black Plague has struck again, stealing a large cache of weapons from a dwarf tomb complex.  It is a mighty shame!

Holtens:  the High Druids of the Holtens have named Urbo the Strong, a nobleman much in favor with the druids, as the new king of the Holtens.   The  Emperor has stated that Buchard, the infant heir, should hold the throne.  Imperial envoys have been expelled form the country.
