Selected verses from Bor's Holy books

Book of Courage written by Saint Guthlac
St. Guthlac was the first of the five saints. He is known as the blacksmith saint for his work forging five great artifacts. It was his courage and leadership that freed the faithful from tyrrany and led them to know Bor.

Book of Mercy written by Saint Leandra
Leandra was the second of the five saints. Her work creating with the healing and protective magics of Bor strengthened the church's resolve.

Book of Duty written by Saint Baudri
The third saint Baudri was originally seen as a madman. He wandered from town to town spreading the word of Bor as tracts which he would post in town squares. His fanaticism reminded the faithful that strict adherence to the law of Bor is both a delight and a duty. Baudri's holy book is not made up of chapters and verses, but instead the twenty-one tracts which he had distributed across the face of Caedes during his lifetime.

Book of Visions written by Saint Mirabel
Saint Mirabel was the fourth saint. Her book is divided into psalms. These psalms are poems that cryptically speak of the future of the world of Caedes.

Book of Justice written by Saint Hugo
The final saint was seen as the savior of all who followed the Justicefather. He was a miliatary genius who brought strength and stability to the fledgling faith by creating armies, police forces, and a system of judges. He was betrayed by one of his own faithful, captured, tortured, and executed.

Lying to a Servant of Bor

You shall not bear a false report; do not join your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. Answer the questions posed to you by the just and righteous servants of the law of Bor, or face his wrath and displeasure just as one who deliberately speaks falsehood. When the words of Bor are read, listen to them with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy. (Justice 2:18-28)

For out of the heart of the nonbelievers come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are not the lawful of Bor and they must be put down like diseased animals. (Courage 4:16-23)

If anyone changes the judge's verdict after hearing it, the guilt shall be on those who make the change. For Bor hears and knows (All things). (Duty:8)

Moral Issues

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Bor has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Bor would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance): For Bor is Most High, Great (above you all). (Mercy 1: 13-15)

The woman and the man guilty of adultery,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Bor, if ye believe in Bor and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. (Mercy 1:41)

O Prophet! When believing women come to thee to take the oath of fealty to thee, that they will not associate in worship any other thing whatever with Bor, that they will not steal, that they will not commit adultery (or fornication), that they will not kill their children, that they will not utter slander, intentionally forging falsehood, and that they will not disobey thee in any just matter,- then do thou receive their fealty, and pray to Bor for the forgiveness (of their sins): for Bor is just and righteous truly. (Mercy 1:49-57) Accept not the sin of lewdness in the sight of Bor. Public nakedness, adultery, taking Bor's name in vain, the fornication of farm animals, or the fornication of skulls of fallen monsters may not be tolerated. If any women are guilty of lewdness, take the evidence of four (reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Bor ordain for them some (other) way. If men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them severely. If they repent and amend their ways to walk in the justice of the Lord, leave them alone; for Bor is Oft-returning, Most Merciful. Bor accepts the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon afterwards; to them will Bor turn in mercy: For Bor is full of justice and wisdom.Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until death faces one of them, and he says, "Now have I repented indeed;" nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them has Bor prepared a punishment most grievous. (Mercy 1:92-112)

Bor and Monotheism

Those who invoke not, with Bor, any other god, nor slay such life as Bor has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. (Justice 3:15)

When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, thou wilt notice a denial on the faces of the Unbelievers! They nearly attack with violence those who rehearse Our Signs to them. Say, "Shall I tell you of something (far) worse than these Signs? It is the Fire (of the Abyss)! Bor has promised it to the Unbelievers! Chaos is that destination!" (Courage 2:16)

Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Bor, as equal (with Bor): They love and serve them as they should love and serve Bor. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Bor. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Bor belongs all power, and Bor will strongly enforce the punishment. (Courage 2:27-29)

Bor and the War on other Faiths

Fight in the cause of Bor those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Bor loveth not transgressors. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Holy City, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. And fight them on until there is no more persecution or oppression, and their religion becomes Bor's. But if they cease. Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. (Justice 4:112-118)

The punishment of those who wage war against Bor and His followers, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the fields of Elysum. (Justice 4:243-245)

The faithful ask thee concerning (things taken as) spoils of war. Say: "(Such) spoils are at the disposal of Bor and his church alone. Partake not of that which is the Justicefather's. Fear Bor, and keep straight the relations between yourselves: Obey Bor and the teachings of His church, if ye do believe." (Courage 2:220) Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and pay homage and make offerings of wealth and service, then open the way for them: for Bor is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful. (Justice 2:14-16)

False Prophets

There is the type of man whose speech about this world's life may dazzle thee, and (on the sight of the people) he calls Bor to witness about what is in his heart; yet is he the most contentious of enemies. When he turns his back, His aim everywhere is to spread mischief through the earth and destroy crops and progeny. But Bor loveth not mischief. When it is said to him, "Fear Bor.", He is led by arrogance to (more) crime. Enough for him is the Abyss;-An evil bed indeed (to lie on)! And there is the type of man who gives his service to earn the pleasure of Bor. And Bor is full of generousity to (His) devotees. O ye who believe! Enter into the service of the Justicefather whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the Abominations; for they are to you an avowed enemy. If ye backslide after the clear (Signs) have come to you, then know that Bor is Exalted in Power, Wise. Will they wait until Bor comes to them in canopies of clouds, with angels (in His train) and the question is (thus) settled? but to Bor do all questions go back (for decision). Ask the Children of Estlon how many clear (Signs) We have sent them. But if any one, after Bor's favor has come to him, substitutes (something else), Bor is strict in punishment. The life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; for Bor bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will. (Visions:18)

Bor on Magic

Those that channel the forbidden magics of necromancy and summoning. Bor wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them thirsts for a life of thousands of years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Bor sees well all that they do, and waits patiently to pass judgement. (Justice 4:56)

Belief in Bor must be Total and Absolute

After this it is ye, the lost people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (their enemies) against them, in guilt and transgression; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on their Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty of undeath. For Bor is not unmindful of what ye do. (Duty:2)

The Holy City

O ye who believe! Truly the Pagans are unclean; so let them not, after this year of theirs, approach the Holy City. Bear not the weapons of war within its most sacred boundaries. And if ye fear attack, know soon that Bor will enlighten you in other ways of defense, if He wills, out of His boundless might, for Bor is All-Knowing, All-Wise, and All-Powerful. (Justice 8:10)

The Drastin

The Drastin say: "Bor's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Bor increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till their Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Bor doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to spread chaos on Caedes. And Bor loveth not those who do chaos. They have turned from the Justicefather to claim sanctity for themselves, only to become the (accursed) themselves. Instead, Bor doth sanctify what and whom He pleaseth. Never will they fail to receive justice in the least little thing. Behold! how they invent a lie against Bor. That by itself is a manifest sin! (Duty:12)
