The Heroes : Isaac Stonecutter Back to The Heroes

Isaac Stonecutter

Issac is the second son of Avram the Stonecutter and his wife Hannah. Issac's family comes from a long line of stonemasons who have helped to build the temples and battlements in the city of Weston over the Empire's four centuries. Issac's parents and extended family are completely devoted to Bor, and Issac was instilled with the values of law since his birth. Issac's older brother Amien was always meant to be a servant of the faith. From their youth, Amien was always the son most blessed by Bor. Amien was the wisest, the strongest, and the quickest of the three brothers in all things. Unlike Amien, Issac's younger brother Trevor rebelled against the teachings of Bor. After one particularly violent outburst, Trevor turned his back on his family and their chosen deity for good. Issac has not heard from nor seen his younger brother since his twentieth year. Amien, on the other hand, entered the priesthood of Bor and quickly rose through the ranks. Within only a year of his acceptance into the order of St. Hugo Amien was knighted. Amien seemed to be a sure bet to replace some of the older members of the church who were ready for their retirement. His reputation was known across the Northern Marches, and even the Prelate of Bor himself had heard his name. With both brothers gone, Issac was left behind to care for his parents and continue the family tradition of stonemasonry.

Disaster struck in Issac's twenty-fifth year. Amien disappeared suddenly, and there was evidence of violence at his abduction. Auguries regarding his whereabouts all pointed towards his death. Unfortunately, his body was never recovered so a resurrection could not be attempted. Issac wept for his brother's death, and found his heart empty. With his parents' blessing, Issac left his job as a stonemason and joined the faithful of Bor. Although Issac chose to enter a the monastic order of St. Baudri, Issac and his family were able to find peace with the loss Amien. Issac's parents continue to live in Weston. Avram retired from stonemasoning, and he and his wife live on the little bit of money that Issac can send home from the monastery. Currently, Issac serves as a monk in the monastery of Baltburg under the guidance of Father Marco. He has just entered his third year at the monastery, and has been under a vow of silence for the past six months. Issac often finds himself lacking when compared to his older brother, but he does his very best to live up to Amien's name. Issac is known in the monastery as, "Issac, brother of Amien", formally as "Issac Stonecutter of Weston, acolyte of Bor", or simply "Issac Stone". There he continues to practice his craft, as well as develop his talents in the healing arts. There is much to learn in the monastery, and Issac is very alert to all that goes on around him. Issac has chosen the mace as his weapon of choice should the need ever arise to defend the church of Bor...or bring justice for his brother's untimely death.
