====== Avernus Subsector ====== This website is devoted to the Avernus Subsector, a 40K sandbox for campaign play for the [[https://theadventurersacademy.com/|Adventurers' Academy]] in both role-playing and wargames play. By having a shared environment, this increases community involvement and raises the stakes of official episodes. The subsector of Avernus is one of the most northeast subsectors of the [[Segmentum Ultima]] just short of the [[Ghoul Stars]]. It lies at the very edge of the reach of the Emperor's light of the [[Astronomican]]. Many of these systems have been neglected or ignored for decades by the Imperium, inviting incursions by xenos such as the [[Alderi]], [[Orks]], and [[Tau]]. ====== Crusade ====== [[Mercogos Reach]] will soon be a haven only for the dead, as the titanic conflict will spare none in its fury. Empty barren wastelands will ring hollow with the echoing laughter of thirsting gods, and the surviving citizens will weep and pray that they can see through to the end of the conflict. But it is a bitter hope. Their lot is not to know peace, for in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. ===== Chapter I: The Brewing Storm ===== * The Imperial Guard has been deployed to deal with encroachment from the Greater Good * The Necrons are beginning to wake.... The Rogue Trader [[Zacchaeus]] has recruited his elite "away force" to help him in his quest across Avernus, one of the farthest northeast subsectors of Segmentum Ultima. It lies just short of the Ghoul Stars. Here at the verge of the reach of the Emperor's light of the [[Astronomican]], the Rogue Trader of House Arioch leads his void clipper the “[[diamond|Diamond in the Rough]]” to collect long overdue tithes from Imperial citizens at the fringes of civilized space. ==== The Away Force ==== [[Zacchaeus]]' "away force" made sure to keep the Rogue Trader safe as he collected taxes throughout the Avernus Subsector.
