The hub of a powerful demonic cult was located at the site where [[emporion|Emporion]] now stands.  It was destroyed when a powerful fleet under the mighty sorcerer [[Erlin]] arrived and attacked it in YOR 1085.  Although settlers from Karlsland populated the surrounding region 50 years after the tower's destruction, the site was considered hateful and accursed.   It was not until YOR 1303, over 200 years after ruin of the tower that [[Emporion]] was founded there.

While the tower itself is gone without trace, rumors persist that beneath the cellars and sewers of Emporion lie a gigantic catacombic structure whispered to as "[[Pits of Damnation|The Pits of Damnation]]" where the ancient chaos grows anew.
