The heroes make plans to sojourn back to the Citadel of Eternity in order to locate Dathiest and kick his royal ass. Nebuchenezzar, Iscariot, Dax (don't call me shrew again!), and Corian started work on creating magic items to replace those lost to the absorber. One evening during their studies, a mysterious gate of light opens up in the hearth that leads to a lovely meadow with a cheerful hut. For whatever reason, the adventurers decide to explore the gate. There they find the cheerful hut and a note stating that they were expected and asking them to be comfortable. All of the heroes consume a hearty meal served by an invisible servant except for Nebuchenezzar who suspects a trap. The group falls into a restful slumber from the meal only to be awakened by an impressive fanfare of trumpets and drums. A gnome monarch of some sort approaches with a cadre of over two-hundered gnomish recruits, henchmen, trunk bearers, musicians, maidens, and jugglers. The group is stunned. The monarch introduces himself as Hamish McNasty, but he asks that the group address him by his true title, "Lord Fabulosis, ruler of all to whom he speaks and master of all he surveys." Iscariot recognizes Fabulosis immediately as one of the few that escaped the apocalypse. Hamish McNasty either denies any knowledge of Iscariot the scholar, or truly does not recognize him. In any case, Fabulosis invites them to use the services of his hut for as long as they wish and take full advantage of the talents of his friend.

A golden angel appears, dripping with power. She bristles at the group's questions and requests. After a period of time dealing with this difficult being, another similar angel appears. This one is much more agreeable. She explains that the time travellers are off plane in a world of law where time moves at a slower pace. The heroes decide to continue their studies to create magical items to replace those lost by the absorber.

As they heroes work on conjuring new items, they are attacked by a chaotic wizard and his demonic horde of chaos beasts. The heroes manage to beat the chaos group back, but not before Jack is turned to goo by the chaos beasts. A powerful restoration spell from Corian takes care of that problem. The heroes decide that the plane of law is a little too dangerous for them, and they decide to return to the Citadel of Eternity in order to search for Dathiest and make him pay for stealing the seven artifacts of Ambitrax from them.
