Frogtown

There are many stories about how this small settlement of about a score of families got its name. One story is that Earl Godric, hearing a chorus of frogs here, referred to the area as “Frog City.” That story is one of the more likely origins because Frogtown has several nearby wet lowlands to the West.

While about half of Frogtown is made up of farmers and swineherds, there is also a large contingent of villagers who toil in the clay pits digging out the raw materials for the burgeoning pottery industry here.

Total Population: 150 people
Hides under cultivation: 20
Families: 30
Militia: 1 knight (Clovis), 5 mercenary retainers, 20 militia

Notable Residents

  • Father Luther - This German-born priest tends to the religious needs of his people with the help of a nun named Sister Katarina. Because of his heresies of taking a wife and fathering three children, he and his family were forced to flee Frogtown for North Lesserton with promises that he might return in the spring of 1131. He is a beloved fixture in this German-speaking town and if anything were to happen to him there could be significant unrest in the community.
  • Sir Clovis - An older knight in the service of Lord Ulfwin, perhaps a former Crusader from the old world. While he owns a farm including a barn for his warhorses he spends most of his time in the alien, black Atlantean tower that oversees the falls of Fishing Creek. He leads five mercenary retainer soldiers posted there. It is an open secret that he carries an unrequited love for young Hortense Pfaltzgraff, youngest child of Burger Pfaltzgraff.
  • Rubeta - The hostess at The Cocked Crock, a tavern built on the highest point of Frogtown. It has a clear view of the road between Worm's Ferry and Jorvikburg. In recent years, the establishment has been teetering toward sliding off the hill as erosion takes its toll.
  • Burger Pfaltzgraff - As the head of the Pfaltzgraff family, Pfaltzgraff has a keen eye for business but is always wary of doing business with “Englishmen.”
