Clovis the Venturer was just a down on his luck huckster and salesman until he met [[Amicus]].  Since then, he has gone on to help recruit the [[Thunderbolt Legion]] and rule [[Yoesville]] as its mayor.  He's not against making a quick coin or two on the side, but for the most part, Clovis is loyal to his former master who gave him such a huge opportunity.  

Also, after one evening where Amicus did an augury to read the venturer's fortunes Clovis knows that his master's position as a mouthpiece of [[Jupiter]] would make things extremely difficult if he decided to do something untoward.
