| [[Gloomwrought]], one of the largest cities in the dark, alien [[Shadowfell]] serves as a background for this campaign. Most inhabitants of the Shadowfell are [[Shadar-Kai]], descendants of an ancient race transported there long ago by the [[Raven Queen]] to serve her. They have colorless complexions that vary from alabaster to dark gray, and drab or raven black hair, with few shadar-kai having pale hair that range within the range of human hair colors. Their eyes are lustrous and black, lacking any sclera or clear pupil. Shadows near a shadar-kai reach out or deepen, especially when they are angry. Due to their origin, most Shadar-Kai worship the Raven Queen fanatically. They are very suspicious of those who worship other deities, and often these gods are best worshiped in secret. | This campaign originated in [[Gloomwrought]], one of the largest cities in the dark, alien [[Shadowfell]]. That experience struggling together to survive the maudlin darkness serves as a background for this campaign. Since then, the heroes' adventures have moved on to other planes of existence, but these early adventures still inform their experiences and remains the title of the campaign. |
