Background:
Newt grew up in a single parent household after his Papa was found dead in the forest after being crushed by a tree. He's never forgiven all plants for his Papa's death. Luckily his “husky” mother managed to “make him into the man he is now.”
Newt grew up in the shadow of the Gunderson manor in The Grand Duchy of Geoff. He took to Kurt Gunderson early in both of their careers and they have been best friends ever since. Newt considers Kurt to be his hetero life-mate.
One of Newt’s many talents is that of a gourmet. He has a sophisticated palate, and is constantly searching for new and unique culinary experiences.
Newt often shares “fun facts” about everything and anything to demonstrate how clever he is. Unfortunately, he typically just does his best to make an educated guess about the particular fact, rather than actually know anything. These guesses are right just as much as they are wrong. It is unclear whether Kurt knows he is guessing or not.
Newt thinks thinks he has a sexy voice. He will often start an attempted seduction or persuasion check with the phrase, “I’m a storyteller.” Newt is a hopeless romantic, and can be overly optimistic about the future.
Newt likes to think of himself a barrister / lawyer even though he has never taken classes or passed the bar. He is always on the lookout for any books or knowledge of common law or procedures.
Early in their friendship, Newt lied about his skills to Kurt in order to win his trust. Rather than ever admit that he was not truthful Newt continued the charade that he has special skills such as the ability to read all languages. Becoming a bard may have been spurred by the quest to make up for these shortcomings.
