Created from the soul of a fallen adventurer perhaps as a joke or curse by the spell caster who forged it, Proteus was a shape changing weapon dedicated to smiting evil whenever possible. Proteus was instrumental in the destruction of the [[salt temple|Prelate of Erathis]] and the apotheosis of [[Trogdor]].
