Since its founding, many of the once shady business interests have become the status-quo. While they have become fat and wealthy, they haven't forgotten what they once were and are always ready to fight to keep what is theirs.
The locals of Bizancio are famous for their accent which would sound a bit eastern European.
Radavan is roughly the size of the continental United States in our world, so as a shorthand there is often a real-world American city analogue to the city-states of this continent. For example, Bizancio is analogous to the weather and geography of Kansas City, except that it is a port city on the inner sea of Radavan rather than a river city on the Mississippi.
