Log:
Scene 1: Gulch River Valley, New Pecos
Hollis Dupont (late of the Royal Orion Marines) and Grimnak Sleestack (an intrepid lizard man pilot) found themselves on a hilltop in the Mushroom Reaches, surrounded by a dozen fierce Grundorian Axe-Warriors. They fought for quite some time and ran low on both psionic power points and battery power for their laser pistols. Just as things began to look grim, their comrade Bloodblade, a huge Gorilla-man from the dread Kong race returned and turned the battle in their favor.
Scene 2: Flash Back, The Royal Hall on Orion
When word had arrived at the royal hall that Sir Robert Flashbolt, a knight errant, had been killed at the battle of Mushroom Gulch on New Pecos, and that his body and Marvel Crystal had not been recovered, it was decided to send three Squires (Hollis Dupont, Grimnak Sleestack and Bloodblade) on their final quest to retrieve the Marvel Crystal. They were told that if they should recover the crystal and use it to travel back to Orion, they would then be knighted and receive their own Marvel Crystals. They were taken to New Pecos by Sir Unguis Smitor and set out toward the battlefield to track down the ogre-like Grundorians who had killed Sir Robert. (See “The Battle of Mushroom Gulch After Action report for details of that battle and Sir Robert’s death). For although the Grundorians lost the battle, Sir Robert’s body had not been found nor his crystal recovered.
Scene 3: Near the Big Casino Mountains
Moving closer to the Grundorian caves, the three squires spotted a patrol of Grundorian axe-skirmishers. The heroes ambushed and quickly destroyed them all, although there was a moment when all feared that Bloodblade’s deadly flatulence might have spoiled the ambush. On the bodies of the Grundors, they found high-tech manufactured silver coins of an alien design. This might explain the sudden rising of the tribes on New Pecos.
Scene 4: The mouth of the Grundor Cave
The team assaulted the 10 Grundorian sword warriors guarding the entrance to the Grundor cave, and defeated them all. More silver coins were discovered. The squires quickly entered the depths of the cave.
Scene 5: The Cross Roads
Inside the tunnels, they reached a chamber with two exits. Sleestack smelled that through one direction lay a horde of Grundorians, the other direction was blocked by a force field projector, far beyond Grundorian technology. One by one the squires teleported to the other side of the force field and proceeded down that tunnel.
Scene 6: The Span-Kee’s revealed!
In a chamber down the hall the squires blundered into 5 technicians of the Span-Kee race (also known as Grays, Grey Aliens, Anal-Probe Dudes, Little Stumpy Black-eyed Bastards etc). Bloodblade’s Vibro Ax made short work of their puny bodies as all were quickly slain. The aliens had been working on a strange rock crystal, but their purpose was unclear.
Scene 7: The Storehouse and the Hall
The squires killed another 4 Span-kees in a room full of alien equipment. Hollis and Sleestack then managed to recharge their laser pistols from a generator in the room. They then noticed that an alarm had sounded. They spotted a large patrol of Span-kees coming up the hallway, but these also soon fell to psionic attack from Sleestack and the Kong’s mighty vibro-ax sweeps, with support fire from Hollis. They then realized that the remaining Span-kees were in a single room around the corner.
Scene 8: Down with Span-kee!
As they popped around the corner, Sleestack was paralyzed by a span-kee paralysis rod, and then the alien commander ensnared Bloodblade’s mind with his mental powers, had him come forward, where he also was paralyzed. As Sleestack and Bloodblade were fastened to tables and repeatedly anal probed (that’s just what Span-kees do), Dupont withdrew to plan a rescue. He used a communicator form a dead Span-kee to lure out a patrol and managed to defeat them. Then the Span-kee commander came forth. The commander used a psionic fear power, which only served to give Hollis a permanent phobia of tunnels, but Hollis then shot the commander down. He moved forward, picked up Sleestack’s pistol from the ground (his own was out of power) and managed to shoot his way into the probe room and set his friends free, who then killed the remaining aliens. They found Sir Robert’s Marvel crystal and an alien saucer among the carnage.
Scene 9: Knighthood
Although Sleestack and Hollis both failed to activate the Marvel Crystal, Bloodblade was successful and they all returned to Orion in a flash. There, all three were knighted the next day receiving their own Marvel Crystals and Molecular Swords, and the galaxy was open to them to perform future deeds of valor.
