Background/Motivation: Raymond St. Giles was from a respectable Gotham family, went to medical school and graduated with a specialty in psychiatry. His first job was as a resident at Arkham Asylum. That job ended badly. During a riot at the facility, St. Giles was captured by a maniac and buried alive. Driven to near madness by the experience, he left the city and began extensive training in mentalism, since conventional psychiatry had failed to restore his shattered psyche. Finally, at a boarding school near Glasgow, Scotland, he met Tavish Pudding, a master of the ancient Scottish discipline of Och Mind and soon was a rising expert in its techniques. Prepared and thirsty for justice, Raymond returned to Gotham, his mind healed (except for devastating fear of tight, enclosed places) and equipped with techniques to bring terror to the foes of the decent folk of Gotham.
