The Weinsteins are a family of journalists who are natives of Gotham's Otisburg district. Lapsed Jews, they have very little to do with Temple Shalom Gotham or the faithful community, apart from the odd wedding or funeral.
All three of them worked for Elliot papers at one point and all three strongly dislike the The Elliot Family. They see their smug WASPY attitudes to be what is wrong with the country and what let's crime and poverty run loose.
Brothers Murray and Moe parlayed a small inheritance and their savings into controlling interest in the Daily Tribune newspaper. Hard work and smarts turned the paper into a highly successful business.
Murray is the Publisher and is the shrewdest of the clan. He is calm and measured, keeping things running and running well.
Moe is the editor and is passionate and bull headed. He is very innovative in his use of photos in the paper. His left arm is rather stiff where some Wound Raven goons beat him down for protection money. He is a little gun shy about gangsters as a result.
The only source of disagreement between the brothers is over Moe's sympathy toward Communists. Murray has convinced Moe to avoid endorsing the reds in the paper for now. One thing they don't disagree about is their cousin Ida May. She was hired as an office girl as a favor to their uncle after she was fired from her typing job at the Gazette. Her fearlessness and obnoxious, confrontational style soon turned her into the star reporter of the paper.
All three Weinsteins live in modest row homes in Otisburg.
