| The Guthlac family has held title to the manor of Bromley as Barons since the Great Kingdom's writ ran in the Shield Lands (at least 350 years to be sure). The Barons of Bromley were among the first to join the Shield Lands protective alliance. Bromley consists of a fortified manor house, with an old stone curtain wall with timber battlements, and a stockaded village and manor outbuildings nearby. The fief was once much larger, with several dependent villages and knightly manors, but the chaos of the last few centuries has whittled it down to a single manor and village.
