Background and Character

Uncle Fargus is a human engineer and space pirate, born and raised on a long-haul bulk ore-mass transport vessel, making the Thrandor to Core Planets run. His family were mostly space-ship laborers, with the exception of Great-Aunt Clarissa, who was a shareholder in the Bartoli Star Development Company (i.e., the owners of Bastard Station ) and a smuggler of some talent. Fargus himself has signed on with various smuggler and hijacking crews through his life, but never stayed with one too long.

Fargus spends a lot of his money either buying presents for his numerous nieces and nephews, or donating to the Church of St. Betty, the nun who taught the lepers how to sing. He goes to confession as often as he can and usually confesses to far more and more serious sins than he's actually committed, since he's afraid of boring or disappointing the confessor. Fargus walks with a pronounced limp, the result of him being shot in the leg during a liquor store robbery on Thrandor Prime. He managed to escape from custody in the hospital after the robbery, but there is still an outstanding warrant for armed robbery on file with the Thrandor Police.

Fargus used the proceeds of a hijacking to aid a fellow crewman named Arlok escape from the law on Ramstein, making them fast friends ever since. Arlok has become a notorious space-thief, working both for Krangor Universal and the Extractors on various legal and illegal jobs. Fargus lost a job on a private security ship to a fellow named Geronimo who framed Fargus as a dust-head during the sign-on meeting. This resulted in Fargus being stuck on the robot world of Dagor for 6 months before he got another berth out. He hates that guy. Due to the high-stress nature of space engineering, Fargus developed the unconscious habit of singing whenever he's working on machinery. He's been doing this since his early teens and is completely unaware that he does it. This makes any sort of stealth engineering nearly impossible.

With the unexpected death of Great Aunt Clarissa in a mysterious shuttle explosion, Fargus has inherited her share of Bastard Station. He looks at this as a chance to have a permanent home and a permanent crew position on a ship to replace his former life of frequent ship-to-ship transfers.
