Sendrick is a colony world made up of a large scattering of deliberately low-tech island settlements. Each island is different, but two of the most noteworthy are Rumor Grand, a settlement of 50,000 Space Hippies trying to be one with nature and loudly arguing that everyone else must leave the world. The other is Quellex, a retreat for the Mental Concordance which has a private security firm tasked with keeping everyone else off the island.
The Colonial Governor, Donna Woad, is a hopeless drunk and keeps an iron grip over Capital Island, and ignores the rest of the planet.
