Gold Elves

The Gold Elves, sometimes called the Eladrin, are the pinnacle of the Elven Conclave's caste system. They use the same statistics in character creation as High Elves in the PHB.

Eladrin do not sleep. Instead they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for four hours a day. The common word for this meditation is “trance.” While meditating, these elves dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, a gold elf gains the same benefit a human would from eight hours of sleep.
