Heroes of the Stronghold Campaign
This unique campaign spans the adventurers' lifetimes as they strive to find new opportunities for the poor and oppressed peoples who have journeyed to create a new stronghold far from the ancient prejudices of their old nations. The party will start as penniless explorers and soldiers, finding opportunity and protecting the settlers of this wild, unexplored continent. Through the course of this twelve-episode campaign, player characters will advance in status and wealth until they build and control the stronghold’s most prominent institutions such as temples, covens, military orders, and entire industries. The campaign will conclude with a titanic struggle for the future of the stronghold. Can the party defend their own creations against the forces arrayed against them?
This campaign is set in the past during the discovery of the continent of Radavan when it was newly discovered by the heritages of the old world. Players will portray adventurers who have travelled to the new continent from their oppressive, xenophobic homes to build a better union. Elves, sickened by the oppressive caste system of their empire, arrive to prove that their worth is in their character and not their blood. Dwarves, disheartened by their ancestors and their unquestioning allegiance to their guild, become involved hoping to get a new start far from the expectations of their rigid society. Humans seek freedom from the religious oppression of their old kingdoms and relish the chance to rule as they see fit.
This twelve-episode campaign will feature a menu of home-brewed downtime choices player characters may perform between game sessions. These downtimes could last as much as ten years in game time, and are a unique feature of this campaign. These gaps in adventuring time will give player characters a chance to grow and develop their own agendas and power base. These choices represent huge contributions player characters make to the stronghold that could last for generations into the future.
Additionally, player characters will develop and level up in chunks until they become paragons of the realm by the final episodes. Player characters start at level three, but rapidly graduate to level nine as the last few episodes play out. Players should consider what they want their character to eventually become during character creation.
