CASTLE CODROS

Castle Codros has been ruled by the mysterious Gotho Codros for at least 60 years. Gotho is reputedly a wizard of immense power who is said to have built the castle itself by sorcery. He is rarely seen outside his laboratory or contemplation tower, and even then his appearance is shrouded by a mask or by sorcery. He also prefers to be called “THE GRIM SHADOW” rather than by his name. Gotho delegates the day-to-day operations to his lieutenant Big Mike Rostoff, known as “The Sheriff”.
There are about 8000 inhabitants of the freehold, the castle has a force of 200 mercenaries, said to be backed up by monsters. Codros allows his tenants some limited weaponry (shortbows, spears, staffs, mostly) but sees little need for a militia, so there are no regular drills or organization. Big Mike enforces the law in the hold using the castle mercenaries.
Codros has little use for the Kingdom of Kotharia. His men have occasional low-level disputes with the wardens of the Lord Forester at the edge of the Long Wood.
