Greyhawk Shieldlands

EXPENSES: each character has a yearly bill to maintain his Lifestyle for the year. These are based on the levels described in the Player's Handbook, but expressed in a yearly number (daily expense times 365, rounded to a convenient number). There are several in-game effects that are tied to these levels. One is the “Lifestyle Modifier”, which is added to various rolls regarding family life (attracting a profitable marriage, having wife and children survive the grim dangers of birth and childhood).

LIFESTYLE LEVELS:

• Wretched: O bill, -4 lifestyle modifier
• Squalid: 35gp bill, -2 lifestyle modifier
• Poor: 70gp bill, -1 lifestyle modifier
• Modest: 350gp bill, 0 lifestyle modifier
• Comfortable: 800gp bill, +1 lifestyle modifier
• Wealthy: 1600gp bill, +2 lifestyle modifier, minimum for knights and other gentry
• Aristocratic: 3500gp bill, +4 lifestyle modifier, minimum for nobles
