SPACE COPS

The Space Cops are the uniformed, armed agents of the Chamber of Justice.

  • They operate in squads of 10 who are assigned to a patrol ship and led by a Patrol Captain (the 11th man).
  • Squadrons of 6 patrol ships are led by a Patrol Commander
  • A Cop Station, running several patrol squadrons is commanded by a Patrol Chief, who have various deputies of various subordinate ranks to help run operations.
  • At the sector capital, the Sector Commisioner administers all Space Cop elements in the sector.

Space Cops have jurisdiction over:

  • Thefts and acts of violence committed in UGH space (orbit or beyond).
  • Serving any warrants issued by any Chamber.
  • Ground based crimes on Colony Worlds, Outposts and Stations.
  • Space Smuggling, when accompanied by a Chamber of Industry and Trade Inspector.

In short, these are the guys with whom Space Bastards are mostly likely to be hassled by in Space.

Every member world and colony has at least a small Space Cop office which is responsible for collecting all open arrest warrants and sending them to the Sector Capital from where they are sent to all systems in the UGH so miscreants can be hunted down like dogs anywhere.

Generally speaking, a patrol ship will have a crew of 10 patrolmen and 1 patrol captain. However, 1 in 6 ships will be the command ship for the patrol squadron and will have a Patrol Commander instead of a Patrol Captain. Patrol Chiefs will usually be encountered on a planet at the Cop Station (or nearby on business). Whether there will be some SWAT/Boarding Specialists in place of some of the patrolmen is very situation specific and is hard to predict.
