Laurens was an ardent supporter of papal supremacy and the Cluniac reform program. He came from the monastery at Cluny, France (a center of monastic revitalization) and founded the Abbey of St. Martha's in Jorvikburg. He was a willing aide to anyone hoping to clean up church or secular corruption, but has no tolerance for breaking the rules while doing so. He was very supportive of the Knights Templar. He was, however, murdered by a Hell Stalker sent by the sorcerer Jacques on October 1, 1130.
