Although poisonous, a vampire spider is not very dangerous on their own. They live solitary lives in the forests of the new world preying on other insects and sometimes small mammals. However, there are stories that sometimes they are driven by Atlanean magic to group together in thick swarms of writing venomous monstrosities. It is said that these swarms move quickly like smoke along the ground, sweeping along up the bodies of a potential victim to inject hundreds of venomous bites to bring down large prey. Over the course of the next ten minutes, the spiders can completely drain all the essential fluids from a horse as it lays paralyzed, but still living.
