History of the Chaos Dwarves of Khaz al-Baal

Fourth Saeculum

  • - 425 The foundation of Khaz Azad
  • - 424 Jack Bronzebeard is anointed king of Khaz Azad
  • - 423 The dwarves of Khaz Azad first feel the corrupting forces of the imprisoned demon Baalzebul
  • - 348 The mad king Jack Bronzebeard murders the royal court and is overthrown
  • - 348 Democracy is established as the new form of leadership, and craft priests of the Neutral Gods hold a great deal of influence
  • -176 Cracker Jack, a young craft priest casts the first magic missile spell and he is immediately arrested
  • -175 While Cracker Jack awaits trial protesters gather demanding his release
  • -174 Cracker Jack is sentenced to death for creating miracles not sanctioned by the craft priests
  • -170 An underground movement begins in the form of justice for Cracker Jack to overthrow the corrupt craft priest clergy
  • 85 A few generations later, arcane spells are becoming more and more common among the population of Khaz Azad
  • 94 The arcane death penalty is repealed, but users of arcane magics are forced to under go purification by chastisement
  • 350 The craft priests of Khaz Azad have lost much of their influence – the city completely legalizes arcane magic, which angers the clergy greatly
  • 356 Arcane magic is now a recognized schooling order taught under Jack Stand named Raz-Matarians
  • 750 The tenuous peace between dwarven arcane and divine spellcasters is shattered when a secular group of clergy named the Jackboro Chastist Church murder an arcane student
  • 752 The two magical orders go to war and destroy much of Khaz Azad
  • 850 Khaz Azad is divided into two sections, the arcanist Karak Azgal and divine Karak Azul
  • 855 Jack The Ripper unleashes a devastating arcane attack which kills nearly everyone in Karak Azul
  • 855 The arcane population of Karak Azgal is so opposed to the attack that many of them to try leave the mountain but find themselves gradually getting weaker on the outside and reluctantly return
  • 1255 The remaining dwarves of Khaz Azad have been completely corrupted by the demonic force buried beneath them only arcane dwarves and those without any magic remain they are so distrustful of one another that no dwarf is ever able to take power and unify the city
  • 1421 A small group of dwarves decide to take their chances on the outside to try and and rid themselves of the addiction of arcane magic
