Along with the earliest liches Vecna and Acererak, Kalbassian is an undying monster who was locked away by the power of the Old Gods in a demi-plane known as Claustra Draconicus. Although his plans to bring armies of undead and ogres into hell failed, the actions of that struggle freed him to once again exist in the mortal realm of Kyor.
