The great oceans between the continents of Kyor are collectively known as the Serene Expanse. These waters are often called simply “The Expanse.” It includes smaller bodies of water which have more specific names.

It is largely a lawless place, with hidden volcanic islands holding long-forgotten treasures left by forgotten civilizations, pirate bases, and wizard hermits. There is little law on the sea except for the great Elven Empire Navy. The high elves were once the greatest sailors in the world, and on “the expanse” their ships are the law.
