The Cobblepot Family
Patton Cobblepot was responsible for building out Gotham's subway system before the turn of the century.
Patton's youngest son, Barnabas Cobblepot was a famous occultist and hypnotist, who joined The Victorian Legion and endowed a professorship of psychology at Gotham University. Barnabas was thrown out of the legion just before The Great Fire.
Barnabas's nephew Desmond Cobblepot is the current head of Cobblepot Amalgamated, the family business. Construction and shipping are it's two major areas, and business has of course been bad. Desmond has been reported as becoming more and more erratic as the company's balance sheet looks worse and worse. The hope of Desmond, and the Cobblepots in general, is Cobblepot Towers, a soon to be completed business and luxury apartment building. There's some talk of spinning off the Transworld Shipping arm (located in Old Gotham) of the business and merging it with Wayne Shipping, but it's little more than talk.
Patton's oldest son, Osmund Cobblepot was a well-known drunk and philanderer in the good economic times of the 1920's. He was well-know as a complete mess and embarrassment to the family. His only achievement is siring his son, Desmond by his estranged wife Patricia Wayne of the Wayne Family. One time, Osmund was so drunk during a speech in front of some bankers who were to fund a new bridge and tunnel system from the North that he told a story about his sexual escapades with a farm animal which created a huge stain on the Cobblepot name. Since prohibition ended, Osmund has disappeared after spending a lot of his time downtown in Chinatown at the Dragon's Den. When his disappearance was confirmed there wasn't much of a reaction from the family other than relief.
