The Underdark is an expansive series of caves and tunnels that reach far into the darkest, deepest reaches beneath Kyor. Surface dwellers can only dream of the horrors that might live deep beneath the ground, and rumors of what lurks below swell within settlements across Kyor. The region is largely comprised of tunnels that all interconnect and often find their end in massive, sprawling caverns. Many of these tunnels are burrowed from enormous beasts such as great purple worms, while others are mined and hewn by civilizations of Drow, Duergar, and other dark races that have rarely, if ever, seen the light of day.
Here is a list of important places in the Underdark in no particular order.
Issarion - Capital Drow City in the Region. Located in one of the largest caverns in the explored Underdark.
Hjoldal - A Duergar fortress city built into a wall of black obsidian in the Northwestern reaches.
Fraathun - A Svirfneblin (Deep Gnome) town built within the remains of a collapsed fortress from ages ago.
The Dark Sea - This body of water lies below the eastern continent of
Radavan, stretching to the east beneath the waves on the surface. It is dotted with abyssal “islands” populated by covens of goblins and hoards of undead led by hag and medusa witches from a long-forgotten age.
Daughters of Maruda - This matriarchal society of humans in the underdark all follow the strange and severe teachings of the deity
Maruda.
The Black Orb - This titanic void ship crash-landed into the
Serene Expanse along the east coast of
Radavan when the
void was pierced. Once filled with slaves of the masters, this ruined craft now stands as a forgotten empty relic of the Masters' arrival to Kyor.
Quesbask - Hidden hive of Illithids started by a surviving Master named
Vaddisk.
